Gordon "Snowy" Fleet Dies: Co-Founder of The Easybeats

Gordon Fleet has died. The drummer known as "Snowy" has died at the age of 84. Before emigrating to Australia, he collaborated with the iconic Beatles many times. He later contributed to the formation of the band The Easybeats, known for the hit "Friday on My Mind".
Australian and British media reported that Gordon Fleet died on Tuesday, February 18, at his home in Perth. The circumstances of the artist's death have not been made public. The 84-year-old drummer is survived by his wife and son. He was the penultimate surviving member of the group The Easybeats .

Later, however, he emigrated to Australia and decided to form The Easybeats in 1964. In addition to him, the band included vocalist Stevie Wright , guitarists George Young and Harry Vanda , and bassist Dick Diamonde.

Although Fleet left The Easybeats in 1967, he enjoyed some success with the band. Among their most famous songs, which topped the charts in Australia and elsewhere, were "Friday on My Mind", "She's So Fine", "Sorry" and "Wedding Ring".
The Easybeats - an Australian phenomenonAccording to The West, the band broke up shortly after the drummer left, who was apparently fed up with spending time away from his family. The real treat for The Easybeats fans, however, was the announcement that the musicians would return for a one-off tour in 1986.

In 2005, Gordon Fleet was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame for their invaluable contribution to the industry and subsequent generations of musicians.
Stevie Wright died in December 2015, while George Young passed away in October 2017 and Dick Diamonde in September 2024. The last surviving musician from The Easybeats is currently 79-year-old Harry Vanda.
